"I Should Have Known Better" lyrics
"I Should Have Known Better"
I should have known better with a girl like you
That I would love everything that you do
And I do, hey, hey, hey, and I do
Whoa, oh, I never realized what a kiss could be
This could only happen to me
Can't you see, can't you see
That when I tell you that I love you, oh
You're gonna say you love me too, oh
And when I ask you to be mine
You're gonna say you love me too
So I should have realized a lot of things before
If this is love you've got to give me more
Give me more, hey hey hey, give me more
Whoa, oh, I never realized what a kiss could be
This could only happen to me
Can't you see, can't you see
That when I tell you that I love you, oh
You're gonna say you love me too, oh
And when I ask you to be mine
You're gonna say you love me too
You love me too, you love me too
You love me too
Writer(s): Paul McCartney, John Lennon
Bob Dylan's lyrical skills inspired John Lennon to write this song, because he wanted to have more thoughtful lyrics. Dylan had a great influence on the band after he and The Beatles had met in New York in 1964.
The band performed this song in their film "A Hard Day's Night" in a scene with a group of girls listening to them. One of the girls was played by Pattie Boyd, whom George Harrison fell in love with and married several years later.
John Lennon sang this song on the record, but Paul McCartney was lip-syncing this song in the film.
