"A Hard Day's Night" lyrics
"A Hard Day's Night"
It's been a hard day's night, and I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright
You know I work all day to get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say you're going to give me everything
So why on earth should I moan, cos when I get you alone
You know I feel OK
When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeah
It's been a hard day's night, and I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright owww
So why on earth should I moan, cos when I get you alone
You know I feel OK
When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight, yeah
It's been a hard day's night, and I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright
You know I feel alright
You know I feel alright

The phrase "A hard day's night" was used by John Lennon in his book "In His Own Write" in the short story "Sad Michael". Another origin of the phrase was Ringo Starr who said it after a long working day which went on to the night. Starr said in an interview in 1964, "I came up still thinking it was day I suppose, and I said, 'It's been a hard day—' and I looked around and saw it was dark so I said, 'Night!' So we came to 'A Hard Day's Night'."
This was the title song to the first of The Beatles' film. The original title was "Beatlemania". The film's producer Walter Shenson suggested John Lennon to write a title song and he was surprised when Lennon had the song written the very next day because he thought Lennon would try hard for days or weeks.
Phil Collins could be in the film "A Hard Day's Night" when he was a school kid brought in as extras for one scene. The outtake footage showed Collins more interested in hearing the music than in getting on camera because The Beatles performed in that scene.
This song was on top of charts for two weeks and made a record because no performer had ever had the top position on both the album and singles charts in the UK and the USA simultaneously.
The very first episode of Beatles cartoon showed on ABC in 1965-1969 was called "A Hard Day's Night". The animated Beatles needed some place to rehearse and Ringo suggested a haunted castle. The monsters and ghouls liked the music and danced along.
