"Cry Ugly" was birthed whilst we were in Los Angeles and I was heading to a session with Amy Allen and Boy Matthews and Oak Felder on production on his team and I would say the vibe was to create a rhythmic R&B record. I guess not rhythmic R&B considering the R in R&B is rhythmic or rhythm but we wanted to make a song that was like "Hate That I Love You" by Ne-Yo and Rihanna, just something that was super deep and emotional but still, you could move your body to.
