"The Story Of: Leak it" lyrics
Hey guys, it's Renée and I'm gonna tell you all the things I know and feel about "Leak It". To start it off, "Leak It" is one of the most fun, exciting songs that we've ever made. To this day, we have not been tired of performing it. Every time we sing it, it makes us feel so confident and so powerful, and there's so many vocal stems from that song that just gives us so much joy
So, yeah, we made this song with Julian Bunetta and Steph Jones in LA, and every time we have a session with them it's a lot of fun, you never know what's gonna happen, but it's usually crazy. The night before "Leak It" we had gone out and the girls were feeling a little bit hungover the next morning, so we were a little bit rough, but we were also kind of loose. Like, you know when you're still kind of hungover the day after, you're still a little bit silly and goofy. And we knew when creating this album, we really wanted to have a single that was upbeat, that was a perfect blend of pop and R&B, that really just had that girl group feeling. Like, when we look back to how girl groups made us feel growing up, like they always had that one particular anthem that could get you out of your chair, that made you feel so sexy, so confident. So that was definitely the narrative and the goal for "Leak It". We didn't necessarily reference anymore, but once Julian had made the beat, it definitely felt like Pussycat Dolls vibes. Like, very naughty, very promiscuous, we're kinda saying something we shouldn't be saying, but it still sounds cute and flirty and cheeky, and we definitely did that. I'm really proud of some of the lyrics on these songs and that song is very smart, so you have to listen very carefully. But, yeah, all in all "Leak It" is definitely one of our best songs, it's so catchy, we're still not bored of it and we're bored of a lot of other songs. There were lots of different versions when making, when recording the vocals. We really got stuck in on that because we wanted it to be absolutely perfect. We recorded it with Julian and then we said, "We need to record it again because this needs to be right and we need to change this we need to add this". The genius bridge came from OAK himself, and it really completed the song, we were so happy once we had gotten that on the track. And yeah, the final version is the best version, and we know you guys love it and we hope that all the new people who don't know about FLO, love "Leak It" too. Bye!
