"Act Naturally" lyrics
"Act Naturally"
(originally by Buck Owens and The Buckaroos)
They're gonna put me in the movies
They're gonna make a big star out of me
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely
And all I gotta do is act naturally
Well, I'll bet you I'm gonna be a big star
Might win an Oscar you can never tell
The movies gonna make me a big star
'Cause I can play the part so well
Well I hope you'll come and see me in the movies
Then I'll know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
And all I gotta do is act naturally
We'll make the scene about a man that's sad and lonely
And begging down upon his bended knee
I'll play the part and I won't need rehearsing
All I have to do is act naturally
Well, I'll bet you I'm gonna be a big star
Might win an Oscar you can never tell
The movies gonna make me a big star
'Cause I can play the part so well
Well I hope you'll come and see me in the movies
Then I'll know that you will plainly see
The biggest fool that ever hit the big time
And all I gotta do is act naturally

Ringo Starr sang the lead vocal on this song. The fact of the matter is that the original song had been recorded by a country band Buck Owens and The Buckaroos, and Starr was a fan of country music.
At first The Beatles had wanted to include another song with Ringo Starr's vocals titled "If You've Got Trouble", but they disliked the resulting version of it. So, "Act Naturally" appeared on the album as Starr's contribution as a lead singer.
The song became Ringo Starr's signature song, and he has been performing it on almost every tour and every show—including those with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band—since 1989.
Buck Owens and Ringo Starr re-recorded this song as a duet for Owens' album "Act Naturally" (1989) with a music video portraying them as actors in a western.
