John Lennon disliked this song, although he wrote most of it. In a 1980 interview with Playboy he said, "I always thought it was a lousy song. The lyrics were abysmal." But Paul McCartney said (according to Barry Miles' book "Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now"), "If a lyric was really bad we'd edit it, but we weren't that fussy about it, because it's only a rock 'n' roll song. I mean, this is not literature."

This track had five guitars recorded: two acoustic and three electric. One guitar had a tremolo effect produced by George Harrison using a tone pedal.
