"Another Girl" lyrics

"Another Girl"

For I have got another girl, another girl
You're making me say that I've got nobody but you
But as from today, well, I've got somebody that's new
I ain't no fool and I don't take what I don't want

For I have got another girl, another girl
She's sweeter than all the girls and I met quite a few
Nobody in all the world can do what she can do
And so I'm telling you, "This time you'd better stop"

For I have got another girl, another girl
Who will love me till the end
Through thick and thin
She will always be my friend

I don't want to say that I've been unhappy with you
But, as from today, well, I've seen somebody that's new
I ain't no fool and I don't take what I don't want

For I have got another girl, another girl
Who will love me till the end
Through thick and thin
She will always be my friend

I don't want to say that I've been unhappy with you
But, as from today, well, I've seen somebody that's new
I ain't no fool and I don't take what I don't want

For I have got another girl, another girl
Another girl

Paul McCartney wrote this song during his holiday in Tunisia in a beach villa at Hammamet resort. He said that a bathroom had been a great place for writing songs because it had had tiles which had provided the very good acoustics.
"Another Girl" was recorded in one take. Later George Harrison wanted to add a guitar lead to the end of the song, but his attempt was dropped when Paul McCartney made the final mix. Consequently, only Paul's lead guitar is heard in the song (in addition to his usual bass part), although normally he played the bass in the band.
Although this song can be considered as one of the most typical for the early Beatles, Paul McCartney explained, "It's a bit much to call them fillers because I think they were a bit more than that, and each one of them made it past The Beatles test. We all had to like it." "The Beatles test" meant that all four members of the band had to approve a song.
When "Another Girl" plays in the film "Help!", the band members have a funny scene when all of them pretend playing not their usual instruments: Paul McCartney holds a girl in a bikini as he'd hold a guitar, George Harrison tries to play McCartney's bass, Ringo Starr is shown playing acoustic guitar and John Lennon plays drums.
The first live performance of this song by a Beatle was made by Paul McCartney on the 28th of April 2015. He had a concert in Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, where The Beatles performed once 49 years before.
