"Nowhere Man" lyrics
"Nowhere Man"
He's a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command
He's as blind as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?
Nowhere Man, don't worry
Take your time, don't hurry
Leave it all till somebody else lends you a hand
Doesn't have a point of view
Knows not where he's going to
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man, please listen
You don't know what you're missing
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command
He's a real Nowhere Man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
Writer(s): Paul McCartney, John Lennon
John Lennon once had troubles with writing a song for the album. He tried and tried during five hours, but nothing came up. He later explained, "I thought of myself sitting there, doing nothing and getting nowhere." So, the song was written after those struggles.
In an interview with Rolling Stone in 1971 John Lennon said, "I remember I was just going through this paranoia trying to write something and nothing would come out so I just lay down and tried to not write and then this came out, the whole thing came out in one gulp."
The song is performed in the film "Yellow Submarine" after the band meets Jeremy Hillary Boob, who is kind of Nowhere Man because he lives in white nothing.
The original handwritten lyrics to this song were sold at an auction for $455'500 in 2003.
Yanni made an instrumental version of this song for the score of the film "Steal the Sky" (1988).
This song was covered for the soundtrack of the film "I Am Sam" (2002). The whole soundtrack was composed of cover versions of The Beatles songs.
