"Papercuts (Demo)" lyrics

"Papercuts (Demo)"

I try to hide my faults
Holed up behind these walls
And I've been hurt like hell
Still try to hurt myself

Yeah
I was born in the spring of '95
Friday mornin', rain was pourin' from my mother's eyes
And the sky was gray, as well, I was dyin', they could tell
My mother's cord was cuttin' off supply of air, I could've died
So bye and say "farewell"
They cut the cord and saved the portions
They gave me to my parents and they named me Morgan
I was probably eight before I saw some vodka mixed with orange juice
And since that day it's been so crazy for me, damn

I was their child, they were my parents
Raised me the best, did what they can
Start gettin' sad, it runs in the fam
I don't think this is what they planned

I try to hide my faults
Holed up behind these walls
And I've been hurt like hell
Still try to hurt myself
But a sweater doesn't cover up
My scars during the summer
And I know I play too much
But these ain't no paper cuts
It's much deeper than that
It's much deeper than that

I was eleven in the fall of fifth grade
My daddy left for business and was gone for some days
I was playin' in the lawn when I felt something was wrong
I heard some glass that shattered and I ran into the bathroom
That's when I could see my mom, she was cryin', make-up off her face
She said she was sad because dad was gone, but I said he'd be back someday
But ever since that tragic day, until my grandma passed away
I'm scared to death she'll drink again and die one day

I was their child, they were my parents
Raised me the best, did what they can
Start gettin' sad, it runs in the fam
I don't think this is what they planned

I try to hide my faults
Holed up behind these walls
And I've been hurt like hell
Still try to hurt myself
But a sweater doesn't cover up
My scars during the summer
And I know I play too much
But these ain't no paper cuts
It's much deeper than that, yeah
It's much deeper than that, oh
It's much deeper than that
It's much deeper than that

I am their child, they are my parents
They raised me the best and did what they can
I stopped bein' sad, this one's for my fam
Thank you for makin' me who I am
