"All My Loving" lyrics
"All My Loving"
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you
Tomorrow I'll miss you
Remember I'll always be true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you
I'll pretend that I'm kissing
The lips I am missing
And hope that my dreams will come true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you
All my loving I will send to you
All my loving, darling I'll be true
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you
Tomorrow I'll miss you
Remember I'll always be true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you
All my loving I will send to you
All my loving, darling I'll be true
All my loving, all my loving ooh
All my loving I will send to you
Writer(s): Paul James McCartney, John Winston Lennon
Paul McCartney wrote this song about his girlfriend Jane Asher. First he penned a poem while shaving one morning, and composed music later that night. In the book "Paul McCartney, Many Years From Now" by Barry Miles, McCartney said, "It was the first song I'd ever written the words first. I never wrote words first, it was always some kind of accompaniment, I've hardly ever done it since either."
When the band appeared for the first time on Ed Sullivan Show on the 9th of February 1964, the first song they played was "All My Loving". That show's broadcast drew the largest audience ever for a TV show at the time with more than 73 million people.
This song wasn't released as a single in the USA and in the UK but still was a huge success having a lot of radio play, and was eventually released as an EP.
Two version of "All My Loving" was used in two of the band's films: "A Hard Day's Night" (without the drum opening and the coda), "Magical Mystery Tour" (instrumental).
