"Carry That Weight" lyrics
"Carry That Weight"
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight,
Carry that weight a long time
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
I never give you my pillow
I only send you my invitations
And in the middle of the celebrations
I break down
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight
Carry that weight a long time

Writer(s): Paul McCartney, John Lennon
All four members of The Beatles sang harmony in this song which happened very seldom in their songs: McCartney, Starr, and Harrison recorded the initial harmony, Lennon added his part later because he'd been in a hospital during the early recording sessions.
The song reflects the troubles the band were having inside the group and in their business affairs at Apple. In the film "Imagine: John Lennon", Lennon said, "[Paul McCartney was] singing about all of us".
The instrumental part in the middle of the song reprises the melody from their song
"You Never Give Me Your Money" performed here on brass instruments with a short guitar line afterwards.
The guitar part at the end of this song is taken from "You Never Give Me Your Money" and serves as a transition into
"The End".
Bee Gees covered this song twice: for the musical documentary "All This and World War II" (1976) and for the movie version of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (1978).
