"Polythene Pam" lyrics
"Polythene Pam"
Well you should see Polythene Pam
She's so good-looking but she looks like a man
Well you should see her in drag dressed in her polythene bag
Yes you should see Polythene Pam
Yeah yeah yeah
Get a dose of her in jackboots and kilt
She's killer-diller when she's dressed to the hilt
She's the kind of a girl that makes the "News of the World"
Yes you could say she was attractively built
Yeah yeah yeah
Writer(s): Paul McCartney, John Lennon
John Lennon based Polythene Pam on two women: Patricia Hodgett, who was a Beatles's fan and visited Cavern Club very frequently, and Stephanie, who was the girlfriend of Royston Ellis (Lennon's friend and a poet). Patricia used to eat Polythene and got a nickname "Polythene Pat", whilst Stephanie, Ellis and Lennon once experienced a three-way sex dressed in polythene bags and oilskin.
John Lennon sang with the Liverpool accent on this song although his regular singing sounded quite American because he used to listen to US artists. He used the accent to emphasize the authenticity of the subject.
